Book Apps | Mr Frog the Neighbours Dog

0

This book app is a very well done app with great animation and narration!  Mr. Frog wants to be a dog!  He has a clever costume. You get to put it on him.  Careful to do better than I did the first time 🙂 I  do improve with practice though.

The app has several games and tasks that kids love.  These thing reinforce eye hand coordination.  The app also assists in reading readiness as the kids hear and see the words when “Read To Me” is chosen

This app is presented to us by Wales Interactive.

**Parents – At the end of the book is a page with 2 flashing app icons. Check our Parent Setting Video to turn off internet acccess if you choose. Or buy and reset so your kids don’t wind up in the app store.

Meet The Developer!

What was the initial inspiration for Mr. Frog?

I wrote the story for my daughter who was 3 at the time after we found a frog in our garden (that’s 3 years ago now!). It started life with a silly nonsense rhyme which I illustrated and then made into an actual physical book just for her. I only ever made a handful of books for family and friends, one of my friends is a teacher who would read the book to her class. The kids in her class liked the story and wanted to know what happen next so I wrote another 5 stories that all linked to Mr Frog the Neighbours Dog. After all these years of having the stories and illustrations I thought it was about time I got them published, so the iTunes App store and Android Market seemed ideal for someone who was doing it as a hobby. So over the last 6 months I set about finding people who could help me make this book digitally and after a lot of hard work we’ve finally completed it and I’m very happy how it turned out.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

My daughter who’s now 6 and my son who’s just turn 3 have been my chief testers, their favourite parts of the book are the dressing up and colouring pages and the funny animations and sounds. My favourite part of developing the App has been involving my kids in the design and making something they like to play which is fun but still has a learning element.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I’ve actually written an illustrated a series of 5 stories which follow on from the Mr Frog called the Animoolz series of books. We’re planning to make digital versions over the coming months. Finally I hope that kids and adults enjoy the book as much as my son, daughter and wife do.
