This is the first in a series we will have you look into. The app is done with quality graphics and audio as well as adorable, enticing background sounds and variety to encourage kids to continue.

No need to buy 12 different apps, or 24 if they don’t have levels! This app also offers our kids a taste of the world with 15 languages. Every game has a great info (instruction) page. What was the initial inspiration for your app?

Even the most beautiful game becomes boring sometimes. The following search for “another game” somewhere on the iPad always was quite nerve-wracking and frustrating for my kids (and me). So we started to collect their favorite games and I developed ONE App that contains all of them.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

The App and each game has a consistent layout, so they can easily get back from where ever they were. There are no ads and no In-App-Purchases (things that do not belong in an App for kids!). Settings and all links are well protected, so kids can´t get where they shouldn´t by mistake!! My kids showed me many obstacles, that I didn´t think of first. So we improved each game until it was perfect ( at least for us ).

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Thanks to the great feedback of parents and kids I was able to optimize and expand the App during the last 14 months. If you have any hints to make the App better, please let me know!

My-PlayBook For Kids is packed full of activities for kids. This very well done app is sure to keep kids coming back for more. The math section is all based on having fun. To answer the equation you must tap the chicken enough times to equal your answer. For example 2+2= four tapps on the chicken! This developer, like many motivated kid lovers, started doing kids apps upon seeing his nephew enjoying his iPad. Like many, he wanted a better app. From Math to ABC’s and on to colors and categories My Playbook is sure to provide hours of educational time, while having fun! The categories section contains 17 categories covering topics such as Animals, Solar System, and much more. The drawing book and the flag section are fantastic. My Nephew loves to play with the iPad. Seeing that, I decided to make a Kids app for children,with almost all the features they need.

The intent is to have a discussion with your kids about why they think something doesn’t belong. This goes a long way in improving, logic, reasoning, and vocabulary skills. 70 different levels are available when you buy the in app at $1.99 – It is well worth the purchase price and we wanted to show you why in the videos. The graphics are stunning, the music is calming, and the overall experience is much better. The link in this review is for the free version, which has the first 2 categories. You will see instructions on how to complete the package purchase within the app. Once purchased, all future update are free!

This app is highly recommended for all Special Education Teachers, as well as Elementary and Preschool Teachers. It’s a great educational tool! Meet Alex Stacanov and Adorable Daughter Amelia! What was the initial inspiration for your app?

All around the world there are so many beautiful and cute things, so we wanted to share them with kids. We thought about the simple and cute puzzle game that will be interesting for kids and even for adults. And this kind of game, like “What Doesn’t Belong?” may be fun and tricky at the same time. As it is based on multiple images, we could share many beautiful images with our little and big players.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

I personally like that our app is always different. We designed it so that every time you load level, the images change place and rotate. Usually there are 12 images behind the level, but you play with 6. So every time, when you come back to level to play again, it looks like new. Almost. I also like our “Sport” set where you can play level about Paralympic athletes. Kids learn about the idea of equal opportunities for all and that is one way we can make this world better.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

In the short period we saw a great response from parents and teachers. They say they like the idea and app. There are many things that may be improved and many subjects that may be covered. So we are very inspired to move ahead.

Teeny Tuca – The Roosters’ Race – Puzzle and Memory Game for iPad gives us an advanced version of the games from the super story for kids “Teeny Tuca – The Racing Roosters. That was reviewed here too and has such valuable lessons!

The colorful characters and the challenges will keep kids coming back for more. While they are playing they are enhancing concentration, logical thought, memory, shapes, and more! The puzzles all have three levels. I did the easy one to display. This should help parents decide what age level suits their kids. Different shapes are used as puzzle pieces!

This app is presented to us by iTmSense. We highly recommend getting both apps as a fantastic package filled with hours of family fun. Both apps are in English and Portuguese.

What was the initial inspiration for your app?

Our initial inspiration for our app was: how to help kids harness the power of their brain and believe that they could achieve more. We wanted kids to feel empowered to improve their memory and attention abilities in a very concrete way. Too often kids don’t believe they can change their own learning and innate abilities. We wanted to create something based on the concepts of adult brain training, but much more fun so that kids would enjoy working their brains and gain confidence in their abilities!

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

Our favorite aspect of the app is its flexibility. Kids can control when they complete their Day’s training. They can do one game and then come back later to the next. The kids are in control. They can play as much as they want, or come back to where they left off.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

We hope that this game brings all kids more confidence in their power to change the future and have fun. Working your brain out and achieving something should be fun and rewarding and supportive. We hope to add more social features in the near future to create a seriously ‘brainy’ kids community!

Professor Kim needs some help finding what is missing at the bottom of the deep blue ocean! This is a great memory and observation game for one or two players. These are two important early learning skills that will give kids a head start for school. Simply tap on the animal or object in the lower box that you don’t see in the ocean. If you miss one, you will see the correct answer flashing and get a fish that is not looking healthy! Try again to increase your scores, rack up healthy fish, and have fun. There are levels to master and then the levels change. Share with friends and family. Just tap the 2 Player button on the home page and you will each have a box to tap answers in – the fastest one wins! The iPhone version will be available in early September.

What was the initial inspiration for your app?

I am a mom of 4 kids, two teenaged girls (16 and 15), a four year old boy and a two year old girl. We live in the lovely city of Munich in the South of Germany. I am a primary school teacher and until our little girl is old enough for kindergarten I am a stay at home mom – and app developer. I love to play with my kids. Build things, play in the garden and play board games. I like to have family game evenings, because I think it is a great way of sharing time as a family. I wanted to have an iPad game where I can enjoy this with my kids. Professor Kim-What´s missing here? is a two player game!

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

I think the best thing about this App is, that parents can play together with their kids on the same level. I really have to try hard to beat my 4 year old son on the first levels. The levels with more objects in the water get challenging for him, so I can relax a bit. But if I play against my 15 year old daughter… I loose most of the times. You need good observation skills to win!

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Yes, I think it is very hard to find good apps for kids. Therefore it is very helpful to have dedicated review pages like yours which help people to find quality apps. Also I would like to ask your readers to leave reviews on iTunes for every app they like. It´s a small thing for a user but it makes a huge difference to little developers as they get visible in the masses of apps!

What was the initial inspiration for your app?

When we became an ‘iPad enabled family’ I realised how engaging and intuitive this technology was to my 4 year old twins. With a background in software delivery, two willing and able ‘testers’ by name of Lily & Alfie, along with access to great teaching resources and early childhood development experts I had everything in place to create some fun and engaging apps which target core learning objectives.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

The App is very user friendly and easy to pick up, it’s a simple continuous play game in a fun animated classroom setting. Positive reinforcement is used throughout and there is a fun bubble popping round for each level completed. I don’t believe in adverts or within app purchases for children’s apps so you won’t find any unwanted buttons for little fingers to click on!

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

As much as I love this technology for helping children learn while they are having fun as I parent I also know the importance of keeping children busy and active with good old fashioned pen and paper to help their hand eye co-ordination and fine motor skills needed for writing practise. As such all customers are invited to sign up to receive FREE activity packs via email which can be printed at home. Kandoobi Animals is the perfect toddler app! All four games include over 100 original, enticing and colorful animal, bug and reptile characters. The background music keeps kids moving and the narration is done by a young voice. All these things put together with great graphics and intuitive interactivity make this app a snap for our little ones to take off with!

There are over 100 pages just in the coloring section with blank pages as well. The matching game will have kids chose the animal that matches the shaded shape. In the Letters game, kids drag the block letter into place to spell the name of the colorful character. Praise is ongoing in this app and we know kids love that! What was the initial inspiration for Kandoobi – Animals?

Several of our staff have children, and we’re all kids at heart. When we watched our children playing games and playing with mobile devices, we thought, “We can do this!” We came up with the idea for a world of animated characters and games made especially for little kids from toddler to preschool ages. When we decided to do the Animals app, we had at least a couple dozen game concepts of which four made it into the app. We’re already thinking about some future releases with new games, more characters and more surprises.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

For us, it always comes back to the Kandoobi characters themselves. Each one has their own secret backstory, and we plan to share their stories as we expand their world. It’s also great to see how children spontaneously imagine stories about the characters based on how they are dressed or their expressions. Another favorite aspect of the app is how inspiring it is when we see kids playing it: We poured a ton of effort and love into the app, and it’s so rewarding to see the joy it brings to kids!

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Yes! We believe the people who play our apps have a direct role in the evolution of Kandoobi. Part of what helped make our app what it is was a ton of testing with actual kids and their parents, and we made changes to the app based on their feedback. What was the initial inspiration for Kids Fun ?

I discovered the iPad in 2010 and it was obvious to me that this device was particularly suitable for early childhood. I am the author of a well-known website for young children in France (Le monde de Victor) and I decided to adapt the website games to the iPad and iPhone. I also had the envy to make something totally universal, with no word, that could be used by everyone all over the world; No need for explanations, just play!

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

I really love its universality (and it seems to work as the app is sold in more than 40 countries). I like its interface, intuitive and especially designed for young children. I’m also very proud the app received the Editor’s Choice Award by Children’s Technology Review in March 2012! Anyway, I will try to improve the app and I really look forward to have more users’ feedback.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

On a personal point of view I had a great time developing the app with my children, at least during the tests phase. I have several other projects of mobile applications, I hope to release at least two of them in the course of the year, but production processes are very long, and expensive!

Talking Pocoyo wants to be your best friend.! He is very loyal and will repeat whatever you say. Talking Pocoyo is also very talented as he can play instruments and dance. You can video all of this and share it with family and friends on the internet. You could use Pocoyo to send a thank you video for a gift you got! He will change your voice in a funny way! Record how much you love the gift and then tap him and he will do a headstand. Try tapping Talking Pocoyo all over for many surprises. You can save and share everything you video.

There is a guessing game in which he mimics an animal and you try to guess which it is. Put him in dance mode and dance along with him or just put him on an instrument and you dance to it! You can also unlock 4 new dances and 3 new musical instruments (drum, electric guitar and cymbals). What was the initial inspiration for Talking Pocoyo?

We have received many requests from parents to create a Pocoyo app that their kids can interact and play with and take along with them. A 24h/7 ”interactive digital friend”!

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

Overall we are extremely pleased with the app, but what makes us really happy is to see people’s first reactions – kids and adults alike! We love the “guess the animal” section of the app, and we’ve noticed that it’s one of the kid’s favorites too. The production value of the app is first class and we are happy with the level of interaction and sharing possibilities is provides.

This app does shapes, colors, and numbers like I have never seen it done! The developers have created this totally intuitive and kid friendly app so well! Kids will learn to form shapes (don’t lift your finger!), blend colors, stack shapes, and much more. All done with a very friendly little voice to lead the way. Stacking the shapes leaves the imagination free to roam. Drawing lines is great too, you draw a line and the shapes start stacking up. Just grab the eraser and make an opening for them to filter down You can create your own maze! More good news – it’s free!!

What was the initial inspiration for PLAY123?
We’ve spent many times to ponder how we can create an effective way of education with their enjoyment in study.We’ve started the project briskly with one goal: ‘Excite the Children’s Creativity and Imagination!’The project, making a one simple circle, became more creative by adding variety of shapes, designs, colors, sounds, and more amazing effects.

Currently, there are plenty of educational apps in the App store, and many new educational apps are constantly released. Of course, there are many apps which provided useful information, but unfortunately, most of the apps had wasted by not adopted by children effectively. We’ve started to think that the good content for child is must be designed and created by view of children. PLAY123 is the application that is full of these ideas and thoughts. We don’t want children to be forced to memorize the numbers and calculation methods unilaterally. We hope children have experienced the comfortable feeling by touching and looking their creations of variety of figures and colors.

What is your favorite aspect of PLAY123?
We recommend the pages of ‘draw shapes,’ and ‘similarity of colors’ Children’s imagination is amazing. They can create anything by drawing and they can play with them. Moving figures excite the children’s curiosity. The children simply touch a little figure of one color on the screen, then, the similar colors of the other little figures are gathering together. We highly recommend this page because this page helps children to learn the similarity of colors with easy and fun.

Play 123 is Now Being used in Elementary Schools!

We were surprised and were very glad when we received a feedback that said elementary school teachers were using PLAY123 to teach their children in schools. PLAY123 is a magical app for children. PLAY123 is designed with very familiar materials to children such as hand-cut shaped figures, uneven stitch lines, and fabric textures. All I want from PLAY123 is that the children can have warm and comfortable experiences and feelings of enjoyment using it. Playground HD3 – ABC Edition. The kids app to learn how to write letters is presented to us by Jan Essig. This is the 3rd in the Playground HD series we have reviewed. The app is the perfect fun practice for learning the alphabet, pronunciation, and writing. Animals are used to represent each letter. Tapping on the letters and animals will give you the sounds they make. Capital and lower case letters are easily learned since kids are having so much fun! There is a writing segment in which kids can choose from 6 colors, and take a picture of the message. In the word segment, the letters are jumbled, kids can match the letters to the animals to obtain the correct order. There are also matching games. Kids match upper and lower case letters and animals to letters. Just tap away and have a blast! This app is highly recommend for Preschool Teachers as well as Elementary School Teachers. Parents: If your kids’ teachers have not seen this one, please point it out to them. Good Teachers are always looking for powerful and productive activities to support our kids lessons!

What was the initial inspiration for your app?

When my daughter asked me to teach her the Alphabet (how to write her name, Mama, Papa and so on) we first practiced with pen & paper. Then I was thinking of some exercises and on how I could improve them… Then I tried to make a simple App with some of the exercises for her to repeat the letters… then this project grew and grew and grew … When I told my friends about my new App they asked me to support several languages for their kids. So I added 5 languages besides German. Now it´s an App with 6 activities, 70 illustrations and it is localized for 6 languages ;)

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

There is a unique animal illustration for each letter in each of the 6 languages. You can change the language when and where ever you want. So you can have a look at the alphabet in English, German, Italian, Spanish, French ands Swedish and hear how to pronounce the letters and animal names. As in Playground HD1 & HD2 there are no ads and no In-App-Purchasesin this App. Settings and all links are well protected, so kids can´t get where they shouldn´t by mistake!!

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

At the moment I´m working on an update with American English and improved British English sounds. This Update will be available at the end of January 2013. A Lite Versions is also available for Playground HD3, so please test this one before purchasing it! I hope you like it!

This iPad app is a memory educational app for kids of all ages.

Kids Can Match Animals is a vocal memory game for children-full version presented by Kids Best Place. A great app for introducing our kids to over seventy animals from all over the world as well as the sounds they make. This app will work on other Apple devices as well.

What was the initial inspiration for Match Animals?

Most matching games do not consider the needs of children , here we allowed a matching game that grows with the player and let the player improve over time. We wanted to give children the opportunity to enjoy a matching game they can really comprehend at early stages of development. ~ Kids Best Place

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

The realistic animal images and sounds took a really really long time to collect. Our favorite part is that children get to see and hear real animals during the game and not illustrations like in most matching games. ~ Kids Best Place

A perfect app for toddlers, babies and children of young ages.

Peekaboo Pets – Animal Names and Voice Toy for Kids is presented to us by Kids Best Place.

This adorable app is set up like a jack-in-the-box game. Kids tap to have the animal pop up and tap to hear the name and see the image. A great app for introducing lids to animals of a types.

Adorable cute animals are hiding in their homes… Press the button correctly and popup the beautiful pet animals.
