dicdicDic-Dic. Multilingual dictation to practice spelling, writing and sound-letter matching is such a great learning tool! In addition to spelling and keyboard experience, it give kids the opportunity to explore other languages in a fun and relaxed atmosphere! Exposing our kids to other languages is the perfect way to expand their picture of the world. In addition, the clues being visible are a wonderful way to introduce the keyboard!

The examples in the video are at the easy level so that you can see the app as an appropriate tool for our youngest kids. There are 3 levels of difficulty and you can turn the clues on or off as your kids progress. The clues are great for little ones to learn to recognize the letter and hear the sounds. Using a keyboard will be a naturally part of your kids lives and this is a great way to get them comfortable with it.

Kids can practice in British English, American English, Spanish, French and Catalan! This is a great Teacher Tool right down to the preschool level. This app is presented to us by Perception Technologies, S.L.

 Meet The Developer!

fotoWhat was the initial inspiration for your app?

Ramon & Vilma: Our inspiration for this app comes from our son Ovidi and our daughter Rita, aged 5 and 7. They are iPad experienced users (they are our best testers!). They play and learn with fantastic educational apps, and we wanted to provide them an app to practice their first language (catalan) and to learn vocabulary and spelling in many foreign languages. It didn’t exist, so we created it. And we hope it will be also useful for the children all around the world.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

Ramon & Vilma: There are many aspects of Dic-Dic that we like, is difficult for us to choice just one. We enjoy specially the voices: Rita, Ovidi, Laura, Kaleb, Méline and Sam did a great job, and the recording sessions were really funny for all of us. And we also love Litos’s drawings: when we received the first pack of it , we were certain we had done the perfect choice with him.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

Ramon & Vilma: Just that we really love our job. We truely believe in the potential of the iPad as a platform for educational content, both at home or into the classroom. Educational apps foster active, participative learning: children are not just receivers of content, but play an active part in the construction of meanings involved in any learning process, any educational task. And is a pleasure for us to be able to create funny educational apps for all of you.
