What was the initial inspiration for your app?
On my Son’s 3rd Birthday I found myself remembering how very important Birthdays were to me as a kid. It was that special day of the year where you are the centre of attention for a whole day!! I thought it would be great to have a story relating to this, but with a twist, and feature Boomer as the main character for the book. By also including all six characters in the story, I was able to create an interactive story where each character contributed to Boomer’s surprise. It was a lot of fun!
What is your favorite aspect of your app?
It is very easy to fall in love with the Cheg and Boomer characters! I’m proud of the fact that they are unique, and also express good genuine values for kids. Kids love humour, so I also enjoyed including some funny moments throughout the story to make them smile.
The highlighted wording while the story is being narrated helps support beginner learning skills, which I think is important. I really enjoy watching kids find all the interactive items on each page, while still enjoying the story too. I think this is important, as I didn’t want the touch and find ‘game’ components taking focus away from the story itself, I feel that they balance nicely.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
I honestly find it very rewarding seeing kids sitting down and enjoying the app, watching them laugh at certain parts, and concentrating very hard on others. It is also great seeing the faces of the grownups, as they watch their kids read the story, and also enjoy it themselves!
Also, stay tuned for the next interactive Story Book in the Cheg and Boomer series! We have quite a few stories in the pipeline, and will be releasing these over the coming period. Each Story Book will feature one of the six characters in the Cheg and Boomer crew as the main star. This allows us to display the unique personalities of all of our characters to kids and allow them to see how these differing personalities can work and have fun together.
