What was the initial inspiration for Cookie Doodle?
We’ve always made cookies with our kids for various holidays. When our older kids were younger, we also regularly hosted cookie decorating parties where we’d invite the kids’ friends over to decorate sugar cookies. These parties were always a hit. Just before Christmas of 2009, we suddenly had the idea that a cookie making app would be fun and so Cookie Doodle was born.
What is your favorite aspect of your app?
I love the creativity that making and decorating the cookies allows the kids. Cookie Doodle is simple enough that kids of all ages can create something they’re proud of and share it with their loved ones.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
Cookie Doodle was created just to be fun. We’ve been surprised and pleased by the positive feedback we’ve received from speech and language pathologists and special ed teachers. It’s really exciting for us that something so fun is being used in important ways we’d ever intended. Our oldest son is profoundly deaf, so we truly appreciate the effort these professionals put into working with special kids. It’s very gratifying that we’ve created something that they can use as a tool in their work.
