JacksMathDevWhat was the initial inspiration for your app?

Being a math teacher I’m always looking for new ways to reinforce essential math skills. Because of this I’ve developed several math game apps for older students (upper elementary & middle school) but the thing is I have 5 kids of my own, the oldest being 8, and they are a little too young to play the math games I was developing.

I really wanted to build something that they could enjoy now! I love reading them stories and I have always wanted to write a book so decided I would write a story with a mathematical twist to it. I took a well loved story “Jack and the Beanstalk” and used a little creative liberty and added a mathematical adventure to it.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

I love that instead of having “tap here” cute animations that you usually see in a storybook app, but actually having meaningful math activities that a kid can “play” (learn) with.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

I’ve teamed up with a handful of talented teachers and put together a free “Giant” printable resource pack, full of activities, to help extend the story into the classroom and home.
