Meet The Developer!

What was the initial inspiration for  Piano Dust Buster?

The idea of JoyTunes came up as JoyTunes’ founder Yuval was playing Wii-tennis with his nephew. He noticed his nephew had incredible skill in operating the Wii controller. While they were playing, the nephews’ mother came in and reminded him it’s piano practice time – and the kid naturally started arguing. Then the idea came up to make the practicing musical instruments as fun as a video game – thus increasing the child’s motivation to practice. Instead of mastering “clicking buttons” on a plastic joystick, the player can acquire real-life skills – playing his musical instrument – as he plays the game.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

Being able to play with your own piano or keyboard, and by this practice it via playing this game, is by far the feature we’re proud of the most. It required a lot of hard work and cutting-edge technology to seamlessly “connect” the piano to the iPad using the audio alone, with no special cables or hardware required. We’re also very proud of the touch mode – because it solves an issue to those who learn piano and don’t have a piano at home to practice. We even made special effort to make the “touch mode” keys in 1:1 ratio with standard key size in a piano.
