What was the initial inspiration for your app?

Like so many of today’s parents, my co-founders and I, all parents of young children, were becoming increasingly concerned that our kids and their friends weren’t moving and playing in the same way as we did growing up. Not only are there health concerns associated with more sedentary lifestyles, but we feared our kids were missing out on the major brain benefits of moving, and some of the fun of childhood!

We built GoNoodle to make it easier for kids to get moving, starting with school. Launching in 2013, GoNoodle is now used in 3 out of 4 elementary schools in the United States as a break between subjects, to energize before a hard lesson, or to refocus after lunch or recess.

What is your favorite aspect of your app?

Now with the recent launch of the GoNoodle Kids iOS app, we’re thrilled about the opportunity to get more kids moving at home. Short dances, stretching routines, and mindfulness exercises can be used throughout the day to get your heart pumping, move your muscles, or zen out a little bit.

My favorite thing about the app is the way GoNoodle songs and videos have become a joyful, funny, awesome part of kids’ lives.

Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?

From the beginning, we knew that to really capture kids’ attention in a digital age, our videos had to compete with the content they see on YouTube, in video games, and on TV. With the help of an amazingly creative team, the quality of our content is on par with the entertainment standard kids expect. We’re incredibly proud of that, and continue to be inspired by all the kids who love to move along with GoNoodle.
